A few things, in bulletpoints:

  • Finished American Songwriter issue 23 # 6 on Monday, featuring Jackson Browne (photograph by Frank Okenfels), Old Crow Medicine Show, Beck, The Felice Brothers, Dr. Dog.. among others. In other news, I have Mono, I think. Not kidding. This was like old school production schedule (i.e. too much stress). I barely made it out alive.
  • Say Hi (formerly Say Hi To Your Mom) has a photograph of mine as their current profile image on their myspace page, taken at a show in Austin.
  • I've booked a flight for Richmond/DC for the end of this month to visit my sister, and we're hopefully heading to Charlottesville for a night to see familiar faces and shake some hands.
  • New York, Halloween weekend, also set. I might resurrect the Circulatory System costume of '06, from the last outofcontrol halloween spent in the city. Memories here.
  • We Own This Town is my new favorite reference page for local music in town, thanks to the hard work of Michael from what Doug from the Clutters had originally created. I encourage you to check this site out, especially for the weekly podcasts of what music city has to offer. Also, in the same vein, Out the Other. Great Nashville music blog.
  • I've seen some great shows recently. The WOMAN fellows were in town from Knoxville two weekends ago, and they put on a pretty great show. I saw The Howlies from Atlanta at the Springwater two Sundays ago.. Charlie and Ian (Detachment Kit) and co. were in town from Brooklyn, playing with their side project The Good Gospel Truth, playing to a packed house at The Basement this past Friday. Coming up: The Felice Brothers next week, Danger Bear Obama benefit show, and My Morning Jacket this Friday on the riverfront. It will be a nice evening, I'm sure.
  • Last weekend was Tomato Arts fest in East Nashville. This is only noteworthy because I stopped by The Groove recordshop and bought the Rachel's Sea and the Bells album finally on vinyl, as well as the Smog A River Ain't Too Much to Love album. I then proceeded to drive home and listen to Smog for a few hours while laying on the couch and doing absolutely nothing.
  • Went to Burgess Falls on Sunday (again), this time with Colleen, Chelsey, and new friend Sarah. Lots of hikin', swimmin', loungin'. Perfect Sunday.
  • Biomusicology has two weeks left, counting tonight (WRVU 91.1 6-8 pm). I have my own show starting in September.
  • Back to work.. and by "work" I mean reading blogz.
